Meta’s head of AR {hardware} on the way forward for AR


Whereas VR headsets have been with us for at the least a decade, AR {hardware} barely exists immediately; certainly, the very elements that may comprise the {hardware} scarcely exist, making it a really zero-to-one innovation problem. Meta’s Head of AR Glasses {Hardware}, Caitlin Kalinowski helps to steer that cost. Kalinowski hails from Portsmouth, NH and studied mechanical engineering at Stanford College. She is a veteran of Meta’s VR crew and led product design and integration of the Meta Quest.
Kalinowski spoke recently with Tech@ concerning the variations between VR and AR and the way in her present position she is growing {hardware} that must be smaller, lighter, and comparable or equally highly effective to the VR headsets she helped develop earlier in her profession. Kalinowski additionally explores how variety – of abilities, of temperaments, of sensibilities, of ethnicity, of gender, and sexuality – is essential for innovation. Lastly, she discusses the position of collaboration and making a protected area for failures that helps navigating the large area between zero and one.
